From the starting point: move 4 screens right, 5 screens up, 1 screen right, and bomb rock.
From the starting point: move 1 screen right, 3 screens up, 1 screen left, and burn fifth bush from the right.
From the starting point: move 8 screens right and 2 screens up. Must have the ladder.
From the starting point: move 8 screens right and 5 screens up. Must have the raft.
Hint: Secret passages:
There are secret passages that link to each other and lead to different areas of the Overworld. There are at least three and they act as shortcuts to the far corners of the Overworld. The closest opening from the beginning of the game is found two screens to the right, but you need the Power Bracelet in order to push the leftmost rock. Once you open one entrance, all of them will be open. These entrances, which are at random spots all around the Overworld, lead to a room with the Old Man saying "Take any road you want" and three staircases. This is how you can get around to those other entrances.

Flutes and whistles:
Blow the flute in any ordinary place in the Overworld. A tornado will takes you away. The same thing happens in Mario Brothers 3 after a whistle is found (1-3,1-F,2-H) and used.

Alternate Link colors:
When Link picks up the clock that freezes the enemies and he blinks different colors, press Select to freeze the screen. Repeat this to see different colors for Link. If you freeze it at the correct moment, his clothes will be all red and white making him resemble Santa Claus. At another moment, his clothes are black and red and his skin will be green like a witch.

Fast save:
Press Start to display the options menu, then press Up + A on controller two. The game save menu will appear.

Items from ghosts:
Use this trick to get anything from rupees to hearts, but no bombs. Watch the only ghost out in any graveyard. Then, touch all the other graves, freeze the original ghost with any boomerang and defeat it. All the other ghosts will appear and turn into items. Note: For an easier time, hit the original ghost until it will take one more hit to defeat it, then do the trick.

Expert mode:
Enter ZELDA as a name to start on the second quest. Note: This is just like the first quest, only slightly more difficult with some items in different places, and slightly higher prices in some stores.

Avoiding paying for doors:
If you have no money and enter such a room, the old man will not collect anything and leave for good.

Unlock door in first dungeon:
During the First Quest, enter the first Dungeon for the first time, then turn around and immediately exit. Turn back around and re-enter the first Dungeon. The locked door at the top of the screen will be open.

Stairs:
Whenever you see statues in the Overworld, a set of stairs will almost always be under one of them.

Old Man:
Find an old man inside any of the Labyrinths, and then bomb, shoot, stab, or burn him The two flames will start attacking you.

Waterfall:
Walk into the waterfall

No broken door charge:
Press A + B on controller two after the old man asks for payment for a broken door.

Turn all hearts white:
You can have no fewer than three hearts -- while you just have only the base three, head for one of the rooms in the labyrinths that has a man asking for your money or your life. Give him your life. All your hearts will turn white, meaning you have zero health but you will not die.

Defeat Gohma with one shot:
Ready your Bow and Arrows before you enter Gohma's room in Level 6. Fire as soon as you enter the room. Gohma will be perfectly lined up with the doorway with his eye open, and you will be able to defeat him with a single shot.

Easy rupees:
In the early part of the game, kill the blue enemies until one of them drops bombs and you have 10-20 rupees total. Then from the starting location, go to the screen west of you and blast a hole in the wall above the middle of the rows of rocks. It is a gambling hall. Save the game, select one of the rupees, and gamble. If you win, save the game. If you lose, retry and restart.

From the starting point, move right four times, and kill everything. Keep going through the beach, killing everything in your path. Once you get to the part with the stairs that lead up to the warp point, go left. Keep going left until you reach the corner of the lake with all the "flowers" flying around. Then, turn back and go back to the part with the stairs to the warp point. Go down and make your way back to the starting point. Repeat these steps until you have 255 rupees. Note: It is strongly recommended that you have the Magic Shield, and the White Sword may also help. This is a good way to save up rupees for the Blue Ring (costs 250 rupees), and you can only carry 255.

Freeze enemies:
When you have your boomerang (wooden or magical) throw it at an enemy. It will freeze for a few seconds. While it is frozen, you can defeat them easier. This is especially useful when fighting the one-eyed red spider creatures.

Eyeballs:
In the level with the giant eyeball, play the flute and it will shrink down to a smaller size.

The Lost Hills:
The Lost Hills are like The Lost Woods, but the path you take is different. If you want to go north to the entrance to Level 5, then take the north path five times. To exit The Lost Hills, go west.

Avoiding enemies:
Kill every enemy on the screen except for one. Every time you enter that particular screen there will only be that one remaining, allowing easier travel.

The Lost Woods:
The Lost Woods are located in southwestern Hyrule. There are two exits from The Lost Woods, west and east. If you go north or south, you will end up in The Lost Woods again. You can always exit to the east. To get to the Graveyard to the west, go north, west, south, west. If you make a mistake, you will have to take the eastern exit, then return to The Lost Woods and go through the north, west, south, west path again.

The Secret Pond:
The Secret Pond is located in western Hyrule, near The Lost Woods. It hides the entrance to Level 7. To reveal the entrance, blow the Whistle. The water will disappear, and stairs will appear which lead into Level 7.
